A multinational company marked the opening of its new premises in Newbury last week.

British engineering and project management company AMEC plc, supplies consultancy, engineering and project management services to clients in the world’s oil and gas, mining, clean energy, environment and infrastructure markets.

AMEC has recently moved several elements of its Southern UK business to the town and Newbury MP Richard Benyon officially opened the company’s new offices in Newbury Business Park on Friday, April 4.

The firm employs more than 29,000 people, and revenue last year reached £3,974m with a net income of £178 million last year.

Advising agent for Moorfield, Richard Deal of Deal Varney said “Huawei needed to be near to Vodafone in Newbury and looked at all the options before deciding on the Business Park, the premier location in the Town. The letting underlines the popularity of Newbury Business Park and the flexible offer available.”

After officially opening the new premises Mr Benyon said: “It is great to have such a renowned firm co-locating its business to Newbury, which can only be good for our local economy.

“The offices are state of the art and I was highly impressed with the staff, who are all undertaking highly complex engineering that keep the UK’s electricity supply flowing, helps our defence capability and grows our economy.”
